There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living. – Nelson Mandela. Malika Singh definitely believed in something similar, which is why she followed her passion and is now living her dream. Although the road from being a teacher to becoming a business owner was not an easy one, as she had to face resistance from her family members and her husband when she expressed her wish of opening a restaurant.
But she didn’t stop, she knew she wanted to work for what made her happy and she did, her hard work paid off as soon, her family warmed up to the idea of her pursuing what she loves and she is now thriving and utilizing her potential to the fullest, in her cloud kitchen business.
Initial struggles in her business
Stepping foot in anything new is never easy. It takes time to maneuver your way in new water, you make mistakes and feel lost, but ultimately learn from all these experiences in order to improve yourself. When Malika first started her cloud kitchen, she too faced a lot of problems due to her lack of knowledge in this field. Her first menu was a total fail as she added around 60 options without prior thought of how much preparation and cooking time any of it would require. She regrets not doing a proper market survey before adding the food items to the menu.
But these setbacks helped her to gain knowledge, she learned from her mistakes and improved tremendously,
Even though after starting her business in 2019, she had to temporarily close it down due to the COVID-19 lockdown, in December 2021 she re-opened it and gained momentum once again.
Her resilience is truly commendable, which is why her business is now faring well and she is able to give her best.
Current scenario and future plans
She is now catering to hundreds of people through her cloud kitchen. Her services are available for birthday parties, kitty parties, family get-togethers, and especially for people who genuinely miss some quality homemade food. Her business is thriving and it all still feels like a dream to her, owning a restaurant was just a wishful dream for her, but now she is living it.
Her aim is to expand her customer base by marketing her kitchen in various ways, such as printing out visiting cards and handing them to people.
The success story of Malika Singh makes us believe that you truly don’t require huge investments in order to own a successful business, all you need is willpower and resilience.
