We all are familiar with the quote, “Ten years from now, make sure you can say that you chose your life, you didn’t settle for it.” even if you agree with this philosophy, you might still find it unpractical, because we rarely see someone taking big chances when it comes to career, we all want to play it safe, where less risk is involved. But Suhas Bali is not the same, after completing his MBA from Pune, he was fending well for himself as well as his family, by working a well-paid corporate job, and yet he felt something was missing.
This feeling of dissatisfaction led him into thinking of other career choices that could satiate him. This is when he decided to venture into the agricultural sector. This decision definitely turned out to be fruitful as now he is successfully transporting exotic vegetables such as red cabbage in different states of the county.
The beginning of something new
Suhas, who originally belongs to the Varsity district of Maharashtra, completed his MBA in 2014 and had been working well in the corporate sector till 2018. But in search of doing something different he decided to quit. The idea of growing and exporting exotic vegetables popped into his head after looking at the vast agricultural land in his area. This led him to research and study extensively about the various possible flora he could cultivate in the area with ease.
Not only variety, but he also studied various irrigation techniques which utilized less amount of water as his area was a water-deficient region. One thing led to another and he soon was ready with his business plan.
Business Set up and future goals
He soon grouped a few local farmers and taught them the irrigation and cultivation techniques of red cabbage, the farmers were apprehensive about growing something new but he took the responsibility for the transportation of their yield which helped them to feel at ease. His idea took off and started showing good results as they were getting good produce using less amount of water with the help of sprinklers method of irrigation.
This motivated others to join him as well and he currently works with 500+ farmers in this business.
His aim is to grow his business even further and to be able to export his products to other counties as well, in the future.
We can learn a lot from Suhas, as not every day do we come across people who dare to think outside the box. It takes a lot of courage to do something unconventional. But Suhas proved that without risk there is no growth by setting up an example himself.
